A Fresh Spring Home Fragrance with Therapeutic Benefits
It all started with a WhatsApp message......
The WhatsApp group for my Aromatherapy class recently started buzzing again after being dormant for nearly 5 years.
The question on everyone’s lips…….Has anybody made a really good “spring blend”????
Unexpectedly, the answer was a resounding “no”.
So that set me off on a mission.
The obvious place to start was with all the florals including Narcissus & Hyacinth, but as I started selecting from my “library” of oils I found I needed something from the herbs as well to add a that clean, fresh edge.
Here’s the blend I came up with:
4 drops of Hyacinth
1 drop of Rosemary
4 drops of Rose Otto
1 drop of Clary Sage
This produced a lovely fresh, clean fragrance that had a slightly “cut grass” element to it.
Of course, the wonderful benefit of making your own essential oil blends for the home (apart from them being toxin free), is the therapeutic effects you get when you use them.
Hyacinth
Calming & balancing. Helps to reduce emotional burnout, stress & mental fatigue.
Rosemary
Promotes energy, stimulates the brain, improves short term memory & concentration. Has antiviral properties.
Rose Otto
Soothes & balances the mind, Reduces stress & anxiety.
Cary Sage
Lowers blood pressure. Relaxing & uplifting. Strengthens the immune system. Encourages energy & optimism for life.
Using your blend
A little goes a long way! Store your blend in a coloured dropper bottle and away from sunlight and heat.
5-6 drops in a regular diffuser will be plenty.
Always make sure pets can leave the room if they want to - it will smell much stronger to them.
SAFETY FIRST - ALWAYS!
Rosemary - do not use if you have high blood pressure
Rose Otto - do not use in early pregnancy, especially if there is a history of miscarriage
Clary Sage - do not use if you are pregnant
