You Don't Have to Feel Ready to Begin

March 18, 20263 min read

A True to You Yoga reflection on overcoming fear, building confidence, and starting before you feel ready.

I used to think readiness would arrive like a green light.

A feeling of certainty.
A surge of confidence.
A quiet voice that said, Now you can go.

It never came.

For years, I waited for that “green light” moment — the one where fear would disappear and confidence would take its place.

Instead, I just felt behind.

I often felt like the odd one out in my family. My sister earned her master’s degree and became a wonderful pre-K special ed teacher. My brother built his own business and invested in rental properties.

And then there was me.

The one who left college to get married.
The one who left a job to stay home with her girls.
The one who carried a messy relationship history.

My confidence felt almost nonexistent. I was scared I wouldn’t be able to take care of my girls. Scared I wasn’t modeling resilience. Scared I didn’t have what it takes to overcome the battles life throws our way.

That fear was loud.

The Moment Everything Shifted

When I started practicing yoga, something inside me softened.

It wasn’t dramatic. It wasn’t instant. But it was real.

Yoga became my “aha” moment — not because it erased my fear, but because it taught me how to sit with it. Through breathwork, mindfulness, and nervous system awareness, I began to feel steadier. More grounded. A little more capable.

For the first time in a long time, I started believing in myself.

And then came the pull — the deep yearning to share this practice with others. To offer yoga for confidence. To create a space where women could rebuild self-trust and step out of fear.

And right on cue, fear showed up again.

The fear of not being good enough.
The fear of not knowing enough.
The fear of being judged.

So I waited.

I waited for the green light that never came.

Making My Own Green Light

One day, I realized something life-changing:

The green light wasn’t coming.
I had to make my own.

Readiness isn’t a feeling that arrives fully formed.
It’s a decision we practice.

Confidence isn’t a prerequisite.
It’s the result of showing up.

Self-trust is built every single time you show up scared — and stay.

That’s how True to You Yoga came to be. Not from certainty. Not from perfection. But from willingness.

A willingness to step forward before I felt ready.
A willingness to move through fear instead of waiting for it to disappear.

My hope has always been simple: if this practice helps even one person move from fear to confidence, from self-doubt to self-trust, then it was worth beginning before I felt ready.

If You’re Waiting to Feel Ready…

If you’re stuck in the “I’ll start when…” loop, try this instead:

• Choose presence over certainty.
• Choose one step, not the whole path.
• Choose self-compassion when doubt shows up.
• Choose progress over perfection.

Personal growth doesn’t begin with confidence. It begins with courage.

You don’t need to feel ready to start your business, change your life, rebuild your confidence, or step into something new.

You just need to be willing to begin as you are.

Messy.
Unsure.
Brave.

If this spoke to you, share it with someone who’s still waiting for permission — or save it for the next time fear tries to convince you you’re not ready.

You don’t need a green light.
You are the green light. 🤍

May you always stay true in your intentions, true to your heart's desires and speak loving truth to those around you. Love ya!
