For over 20 years, I’ve navigated the often tumultuous waters of business as an introvert. At first glance, being an introvert in a world that seems to celebrate extroversion can feel like trying to swim upstream. However, my journey has taught me that our quiet power isn’t just a trait; it’s a superpower waiting to be harnessed.
When I started my career as a Wellbeing Interior designer, I was overwhelmed by the loud, fast-paced nature of the business environment. Networking events felt more like marathons of small talk, leaving me exhausted rather than inspired. I often questioned if I belonged in this space—until I discovered the unique strengths that come with introversion.
One of my greatest assets as an introvert has been my ability to listen deeply. In a world where many are quick to speak, I’ve learned that listening not only fosters genuine connections but also allows me to absorb valuable insights. This skill has been instrumental in building relationships with clients, colleagues, and fellow entrepreneurs.
Being an introvert often means finding comfort in solitude. I’ve used this to my advantage by creating spaces for reflection and creativity especially as an interior designer and surface pattern designer. Whether it’s designing a new surface pattern or crafting ideas for my netwalking community, I’ve found that my best work often comes in moments of quiet contemplation. This slow, considered approach aligns beautifully with my belief in the importance of wellbeing and creativity.
As someone who thrives in nature, I’ve discovered that combining my introverted nature with the outdoors offers profound benefits. Walking in serene settings has provided me with the space to process my thoughts and feelings, especially during challenging times. This connection to nature has been a healing force, allowing me to let go of what no longer serves me and to embrace the journey ahead.
Founding the Creative Wellbeing Circle has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my career. This netwalking community for female creative and wellbeing entrepreneurs is a space where like-minded women can connect, share, and uplift one another. It’s a reminder that, even as introverts, we can thrive in community by nurturing genuine connections in a nurturing environment.
So, why is our quiet power a superpower? It allows us to:
Connect Authentically: Introverts tend to seek depth over breadth in relationships, fostering meaningful connections that last.
Think Creatively: Our natural inclination for introspection can lead to unique ideas and innovative solutions.
Empathise Deeply: The ability to listen and observe enhances our understanding of others, making us compassionate leaders and collaborators.
Embrace Reflection: Quiet moments give us the opportunity to recharge and reflect, which can lead to personal and professional growth.
Embracing my quiet power has transformed my approach to business and life. I’ve learned that being an introvert is not a limitation; it’s a unique lens through which I experience the world. By celebrating our quiet strengths, we can redefine success on our own terms and inspire other women to do the same.
If you’ve ever felt overshadowed by the noise of the world, remember: your quiet power is your superpower. It’s time to embrace it, share it, and let it shine. 🌟
