Before the session, I will send you the “Ready to Read Assessment.” This assessment makes your child’s reading strengths and weaknesses crystal clear so we can make the perfect, customized plan for you and your child. The assessment is created for moms like you and has clear directions to help you understand exactly how to give the assessment and easily record the answers.
During your private 45 minute coaching session, we will use the results from your “Ready to Read Assessment" to create a customized plan for you and your child. You will leave with clarity about how to move forward, knowledge about how to do it, and tips to make the next steps easier. We will discuss how long you would like to practice the customized plan we put in place (5-15 days) and set up a Celebration follow-up call. You will leave feeling confident and clear about what to do next.
You’ll leave the session feeling so excited and clear about what to do that you’ll want to get started right away! You will start with the simple custom routine we created during your coaching session to start practicing your child’s reading/writing. Each day you will watch as your child becomes a more confident reader/writer.
In the 15 minute follow up session, we will celebrate the amazing progress your child has made on their custom plan. You will feel relief that you finally figured out how to meet your child’s needs and you both will feel confident and excited about the progress you’ve made.

I’m nervous about this “literacy stuff.” Will I even be able to answer your questions?
Don’t worry! I created Empowering Literacy to help moms just like you! I know everyone has a range of knowledge on the topic of literacy and I will meet you right where you are. Remember, I’ve been a primary teacher for 16 years. I can break it down so it makes sense to you!
I’m using a curriculum, do I really need this?
I’m guessing if you’ve read this far you probably do. Children are each unique and there is no perfect resource that meets each child’s needs. Curriculum is a great guide, but that’s it-it’s a guide. If your child isn’t connecting with your curriculum, your child is struggling, or you have that feeling in your gut that something isn’t working, coaching might be perfect for you. Remember, it’s customized to YOUR child’s needs.
You’re not a homeschool mom…you’re a teacher. How can you help me?
You are right, I'm not a homeschool mom. That said, the learning brain of a child IS the same no matter how they are schooled. If I was a homeschool mom I would have only worked with my own children and I’m not sure it would be right for me to coach from that perspective. Instead, I’ve spent the last 16 years teaching every type of child. Children with special needs, children with learning disabilities, typical children, gifted children, and all children in between. I have a bachelor’s degree in elementary education, a master’s degree in curriculum and instruction, I’m Montessori trained, as well as trained in Orton-Gillingham. So, although I’m not a homeschool mom, I feel very confident in my ability to help you.
What age/skill level is your coaching for?
I work with moms of 4-7 year olds who are teaching their children how to read and write. My coaching is to help parents lay a strong foundation for literacy and to help get your child reading and writing. If your child is older and still needs those skills, this may be a good fit. If your child is already reading or is struggling with more advanced reading skills this may not be the right fit for you. Feel free to email me if you have any questions empowering.lit@gmail.com .
Are you wondering something else? Please email me, I’d love to see how I can help! empowering.lit@gmail.com
Jacque was so knowledgeable with great advice and resources. She was professional yet down to Earth. Since I started working with her both my son and I have gained confidence. My son got 23/26 letter sounds within one week and he read his first book by himself in two weeks!. I loved her upbeat personality, her flexibility, and she genuinely cared about my son and I.
Jacque gave me confidence about what I’m doing as a homeschool mom. I benefited from her help, advice, and knowledge to better teach my boys. As a teacher herself, she also gave advice on what I shouldn’t do or use which has been helpful. I would absolutely recommend her to everyone I know!
